Report a Fake Certificate
If a document claiming to be issued by the Board does not verify, the Board wants to know.
Check the number first
Most failed checks are a typing error, not a forgery. Confirm the number character by character — a certificate number carries a check character at the end specifically so that a mistyped number fails rather than matching someone else's award.
Reporting it
Send the Board the certificate number as printed, the name on the document, and a photograph or scan of it if you have one. Say where the document came from. The Board investigates every report and does not name the person who made it to the holder of the document.
Why it is worth reporting
A forged certificate devalues the real ones held by everybody who earned them, and a Board that cannot show it acts on forgery is a Board whose certificates are worth less. Reports are acted on.
